News on Mark Brown’s Current Work

From October 2017 to the present (November 2018), Mark Brown has been revising the first two volumes of The Royal Book to improve the material for the second edition. Due to the length of time it has taken to complete The Royal Book, technological issues have arisen that have resulted in a significant amount of extra work, primarily due to working with Finale documents dating back to 2001, when the work began. These documents do not update with new versions of Finale and do not respond correctly to some of the parameters used. After these first two volumes, all files will be in the most recent version of Finale.

Furthermore, transcribed repertoire has been prepared for two more books (volume 3 and volume 4), and so far there are about 350 songs ready to begin reviewing.

There is also material for a book of Venezuelan Christmas music, with about 300 pieces transcribed so far, ready to begin the review and revision process.

Mark has also begun work on two books of the complete musical works of two important Venezuelan composers, Pablo Camacaro and Henry Martinez, who represent a significant part of the traditional repertoire. Mark is working daily with both composers to create the most complete collection of their works, with the greatest possible accuracy in the transcriptions.
