Conference on the Development of El Libro Real de Venezuela

Mirecourt, France – August 2016

On August 22, 2016, a conference was held in Mirecourt, France, dedicated to the development of El Libro Real de Venezuela. The event took place during the annual Venezuelan music workshop (“Stage”) organized by composer and musician Cristóbal Soto. The project was presented to an audience of students and faculty, offering an overview of its origins in 2001 and sharing insights into the working process, methodology, and personal experiences with various composers throughout the journey.

This marked the first public presentation of El Libro Real, and it inspired the idea of accelerating the project’s completion so the book could be officially launched and used in the following year’s workshop.

At that time, there was still much work to be done. Although around 400 pieces had already been transcribed, many aspects of the score layout and visual design still required meticulous review. In November 2016, a team of three assistants were trained and brought on board to work side-by-side with the author, Mark Brown, to bring El Libro Real to completion.
