Composer: Pablo Camacaro

Trujillo State, 2018

In February 2018, I visited the composer Pablo Camacaro in Trujillo State to collect music from the region and review some of his pieces. He introduced me to Luis Orlando Briceño and Alfonso Rodríguez, excellent composers from Trujillo with whom I had the pleasure of spending time. Some of their pieces will be included in El Libro Real.

Pablo Camacaro is a living legend. His contributions to traditional Venezuelan music are so vast and important that I never cease to be amazed, even though I’ve been studying his music for over 20 years. On top of that, he’s a great person and a good friend.
