I had the pleasure of seeing Cruz Felipe several times. This was the first, at his home in La Guaira, Vargas State, in April 2009. Cecilia Todd and I went to visit him, and I took the opportunity to show him some of my transcription work of his pieces and he gave me his ideas and some corrections. He had a wonderful musical mind and was a true gentleman. His compositions included in El Libro Real are some of the most well-known in the repertoire and have always been among my favorites.
